About this illustration
These figures are an illustration, not a forecast. They assume the return rate you entered holds steady for the whole period — real returns move, and can be negative. Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks; read all scheme-related documents carefully. FINWEL does not guarantee any return. FINWEL is an AMFI-registered mutual fund distributor, ARN-192326.
About the lock-in and the tax deduction
Each ELSS instalment is locked in for three years from the date of that instalment, not from the date you started. A SIP is therefore not fully redeemable until three years after its last instalment.
This page does not calculate tax saved, and that is deliberate. The section 80C deduction that makes ELSS a tax-saving investment is available only under the Old Regime. It does not exist under the New Regime, which is the default. Whether the deduction is worth anything to you depends on which regime you file under — so a single "tax saved" figure would be wrong for most readers rather than merely imprecise.
